Over the last two pandemic-centered years, video marketing has increased more than ever before.

Wyzowl, a marketing company that specialized in explainer videos, found that 86% of marketers reported video marketing as their primary source of promotion since the pandemic began in 2020.

Reels

A ‘Reel’ is a vertical video shared on Instagram that can be up to 60 seconds long.

Reels are similar to the video viral sensations from social media competitor, TikTok. What sets Reels apart is that they use an additional 8% of screen space over TikTok. This was an intentional design decision from Meta, the parent company of both Facebook and Instagram, as a creative edge.

Reels, in comparison to other types of posts on Instagram, also receive 22% more engagement than videos posted to users’ feeds.

The Reel below was created to help promote ‘Surviving Mexico,’ an academic tome that published 20-years worth of border research from journalism professors at the University of Arizona.

This Reel was designed to not just generate interest for the publication, but also to drive momentum leading up to the date that ‘Surviving Mexico’ hit the shelves.

For the clients, this generated over 6000 views, giving them proper momentum heading into the release of the book in 2021.


Explainer Video

An explainer video piece poses a question and offers a solution, ultimately promoting the product or service being offered.

Explainer pieces should be compelling to your audience as they are often featured on website homepages and landing zones. It is also important that these videos are of higher quality so that they can remain relevant longer.

This short video on Shirley gives a tiny peek into the origins of the group through Shirley’s eyes.

Product Video

A promotional product video shows off the design and capabilities of your product, it draws attention to your business with a video that is visually beautiful. This type of promotion works especially well for the tech, beauty, and fashion industries.
